Switching from Fergus to WattlePing

You can bring your customers and your price list across yourself in an afternoon, using CSV files. Here's how.

  1. Export your customers. In your current app, export your customer list as a CSV file. Most apps have this under Clients or Customers, then Export.
  2. Export your price list. Export your items, materials or services as a CSV file as well, if your app lets you.
  3. Start your WattlePing trial. Sign up, pick your trade, and your checklists and quick items are set up for you.
  4. Upload both files. Go to Customers, then Import, and Settings, then Price list, then Import. WattlePing reads the column headings and shows you what it added and what it skipped.
  5. Run both apps for a week. Finish the jobs already in progress in your old app, and start new quotes in WattlePing. Cancel the old app once nothing is left open.

What comes across, and what doesn't

  • Customers need a name column and a phone column. Mobiles are picked ahead of landlines, and the address is built from street, suburb, state and postcode columns.
  • Prices need an item name column and a price column. Items with the same name are updated, not doubled up.
  • Up to 2,000 rows per file. Customers already in WattlePing (same phone number) are skipped.
  • Jobs, quotes, invoices, notes, photos and payment history don't come across. Keep your old app's records, or export them, for your tax records.

Good to know. We haven't yet tested the importer with a real Fergus export file. If a column isn't picked up, rename its heading to Name, Mobile, Email or Address and upload it again.
