The best job management app for tradies in Australia: how to choose
There's no single best app. The right one depends on how many people you have, how many jobs you do, whether you need GPS or certificates, and which accounting software you use. We make WattlePing, so we're not neutral. To keep this useful, every competitor fact below comes from that company's own website, checked on 5 November 2026, and anything we couldn't confirm is marked.

How to choose the right app for your business
- Count your users, then price it. Per-user pricing (Tradify, and Fergus timesheet users) rises with every person. Per-job pricing (ServiceM8) rises with busy months. Team plans (Jobber, WattlePing) step up at set team sizes.
- Check whether prices include GST. Some Australian pricing pages include GST and some don't. A $52 price before GST is $57.20 after it.
- Make sure customers can accept quotes from their phone. It's the quickest way to turn a quote into a job. On some apps it's only on the higher plans.
- Look at what happens to enquiries. Missed calls, website forms and lead-site emails are where jobs are won or lost. Check how each one reaches you.
- Check the accounting connection you need. Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks. Not every app connects to all three.
- Test it on site. Use the free trial on a real job, on your phone, before you move everything across.

Each app compared with WattlePing
Moving from one app to another
Most apps let you export your customers as a CSV file. With WattlePing you upload that file, and your price list too, and you're ready to quote. Jobs, quotes and invoices stay in your old app, so keep those records for tax.
- Export your customers. In your current app, export your customer list as a CSV file. Most apps have this under Clients or Customers, then Export.
- Export your price list. Export your items, materials or services as a CSV file as well, if your app lets you.
- Start your WattlePing trial. Sign up, pick your trade, and your checklists and quick items are set up for you.
- Upload both files. Go to Customers, then Import, and Settings, then Price list, then Import. WattlePing reads the column headings and shows you what it added and what it skipped.
- Run both apps for a week. Finish the jobs already in progress in your old app, and start new quotes in WattlePing. Cancel the old app once nothing is left open.
Questions tradies ask
Which job management app is cheapest for a solo tradie?
ServiceM8 has a free plan for up to 30 jobs a month, and its paid plans start at $29 a month including GST. Jobber Core starts at US$29 a month on annual billing. Tradify Lite is $48 a month before GST. WattlePing Starter is $49 a month including GST, with every feature included.
Which app is best for a crew of five?
Look at the total monthly cost for five people, with GST added. Per-user plans multiply by five, while team plans (such as WattlePing Professional, for up to 6 users) have one price.
Do I need native phone apps?
ServiceM8, Tradify and Fergus have phone apps. WattlePing is a web app you add to your home screen, which means no app-store downloads but it does need a signal. If you often work without reception, keep that in mind.
Can I move my customers from one app to another?
Most apps can export customers as a CSV file. WattlePing imports customers and price lists from CSV files. Jobs, quotes and invoices usually stay behind, so keep your old records for tax.
